92_HB5296 LRB9211640ACcd 1 AN ACT in relation to the regulation of professions. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Illinois Dental Practice Act is amended 5 by changing Section 8.1 as follows: 6 (225 ILCS 25/8.1) (from Ch. 111, par. 2308.1) 7 (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2006) 8 Sec. 8.1. Permits for administration of general 9 anesthesia or parenteral conscious sedation. No licensed 10 dentist shall administer general anesthesia or conscious 11 sedation without first applying for and obtaining a permit 12 for such purpose from the Department. The Department shall 13 issue such permit only after ascertaining that the applicant 14 possesses the minimum qualifications necessary to protect 15 public safety. A person with a dental degree who administers 16 anesthesia or conscious sedation in an approved hospital 17 training program under the supervision of either a licensed 18 dentist holding such permit or a physician licensed to 19 practice medicine in all its branches shall not be required 20 to obtain such permit. 21 (Source: P.A. 92-280, eff. 1-1-02.)
