92_HB5277 LRB9211641ACcd 1 AN ACT concerning hearing instruments. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Hearing Instrument Consumer Protection 5 Act is amended by changing Section 1 as follows: 6 (225 ILCS 50/1) (from Ch. 111, par. 7401) 7 (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2006) 8 Sec. 1. Purpose. The purpose of this Act is to protect 9 the hearing-impaired public from incompetent and dishonest 10 dispensers of hearing instruments who could endanger the 11 health, safety and welfare of the People of this State. The 12 Federal Food and Drug Administration has recommended that 13 State legislation is necessaryin orderto establish 14 standards of competency and to impose stringent penalties for 15 those who violate the public trust in this field of health 16 care. 17 (Source: P.A. 89-72, eff. 12-31-95.)
