92_HB5234 LRB9211461DHmg 1 AN ACT with regard to highways. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Toll Highway Act is amended by changing 5 Section 3.1 as follows: 6 (605 ILCS 10/3.1) (from Ch. 121, par. 100-3.1) 7 Sec. 3.1. There is created an advisory committee 8 composed of 7 members of the House of Representatives 9 appointed by the Speakerthereof, 7 members of the Senate 10 appointed by the President, and 15 members appointed by the 11 Governor. It is the intention of this section that the 12 Governor's appointments shall be made with due consideration 13 to the location of proposed toll highway routes so that 14 maximum geographic representation from the areas served by 15 said toll highway routes may be accomplished insofar as 16 practicable. The members shall be appointed during the month 17 of June and shall serve from the first day in July in 18 odd-numbered years for a two-year period and until their 19 successors are appointed and qualified, except that General 20 Assembly members shall serve such term or until termination 21 of their legislative service, whichever first occurs. 22 Appointments shall be in writing and filed with the Secretary 23 of State as a public record. Vacancies shall be filled in the 24 same manner as original appointments. The committee shall 25 choose from among its members a chairman and secretary. It 26 may meet on call of the chairman or any 6 members. The 27 members shall receive no compensation but shall be reimbursed 28 for expenses necessarily incurred in the performance of their 29 duties. 30 The committee shall meet with the Illinois State Toll 31 Highway Authority and shall advise it on all matters relating -2- LRB9211461DHmg 1 to policy and the administration of the toll highway system. 2 (Source: P.A. 85-1424.)
