92_HB5024 LRB9211528AGmb 1 AN ACT concerning agriculture. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Illinois Pesticide Act is amended by 5 changing Section 2 as follows: 6 (415 ILCS 60/2) (from Ch. 5, par. 802) 7 Sec. 2. Declaration of Purpose: The purpose of this Act 8 is to regulate in the public interest the labeling, 9 distribution, use and application of pesticides asherein10 defined in this Act. It is recognized that pesticides are 11 valuable and necessary to Illinois' agricultural production 12 and to the protection of man and his environment from pests, 13 but it is essential to our general health and welfare that 14 they be regulated to prevent adverse effects on man and his 15 environment. New pesticides and application methods are 16 continually being synthesized or discovered which may be 17 valuable for pest control. However, such pesticides may 18 cause unreasonable adverse effects on the environment or may 19 be injurious to animals or man if not properly used. It is, 20 therefore, deemed necessary to provide for the regulation of 21 pesticides. 22 (Source: P.A. 81-197.)
