92_HB3812 LRB9214376BDpr 1 AN ACT concerning townships. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing 5 Section 255-5 as follows: 6 (60 ILCS 1/255-5) 7 Sec. 255-5. Transfers to andTransferfrom road and 8 bridge fund. 9 (a) Whenever the road and bridge fund of any township in 10 a county with a population of 500,000 or more contains a 11 balance no longer needed for road and bridge purposes, 12 occasioned by the fact that the township no longer has any 13 roads or bridges under its jurisdiction, the voters of the 14 township at an annual township meeting or at a special 15 township meeting called for the purpose may, by resolution by 16 a majority vote of the voters present and voting on the 17 resolution, transfer the balance to the general township fund 18 or to any other township fund or funds. 19 (b) For a period of one year after the effective date of 20 this amendatory Act of the 92nd General Assembly, the 21 township board of a township located in a county with a 22 population of less than 100,000 may, by ordinance, transfer 23 moneys from the public assistance fund to the road and bridge 24 fund if an amount of at least $5,000 remains in the public 25 assistance fund. 26 (Source: Laws 1949, p. 1608; P.A. 88-62.) 27 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 28 becoming law.
