92_HB3778 LRB9209480JMtm 1 AN ACT concerning municipalities. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by 5 changing Section 11-37-2 as follows: 6 (65 ILCS 5/11-37-2) (from Ch. 24, par. 11-37-2) 7 Sec. 11-37-2. Any municipality by ordinance may regulate 8 the installation, alteration, and use of all electrical 9 equipment as provided in this Division 37 and may establish 10 an electrical inspection department for this regulation. 11 Each municipality which establishes such an electrical 12 inspection department shall also establish an electrical 13 commission, consisting of the following6membersas follows: 14 The superintendent of electricity or the chief electrical 15 inspector of the municipality shall be a member and ex 16 officio chairman of the commission; there shall be (i)of the17other 5 members, one shall bea registered professional 18 engineer,onean electrical contractor, andonea journeyman 19 electrician or (ii) a professional engineering consultant; 20 there shall be, onea representative of an inspection bureau 21 maintained by the fire underwriters, if such a representative 22 resides in the municipality, and if no such representative 23 resides in the municipality then the chief of the fire 24 department; and there shall be a, and onerepresentative of 25 an electricity supply company. If there is no person residing 26 in the municipality who is qualified under any one of these 27 descriptions, the mayor or president of the municipality may 28 appoint some other person to fill that position.
