1 AN ACT concerning elections.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding
5 Sections 13-2.5 and 14-4.5 as follows:
6 (10 ILCS 5/13-2.5 new)
7 Sec. 13-2.5. Time off from work to serve as election
8 judge. Any person who is appointed as an election judge
9 under Section 13-1 or 13-2 may, after giving his or her
10 employer at least 48 hours' notice, be absent from his or her
11 place of work for the purpose of serving as an election
12 judge. An employer may require documentation from the
13 election authority of the employee's service as an election
14 judge. An employer may not penalize an employee for that
15 absence other than a deduction in salary for the time the
16 employee was absent from his or her place of employment.
