1 AN ACT concerning instructional employees.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5 Instructional Employee Pay Equity Act.
6 Section 5. Definitions. In this Act:
7 "Instructional employee" means a person who, for
8 compensation, provides instruction to persons of any age in a
9 manner similar to the instruction provided by public school
10 teachers.
11 "Non-profit organization" means an organization that is
12 exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of
13 the federal Internal Revenue Code.
14 Section 10. Pay equity. If a non-profit organization
15 employs any instructional employees and the non-profit
16 organization receives State funds for any purpose, then the
17 non-profit organization must compensate each instructional
18 employee at a level that is at least equivalent to the
19 minimum compensation paid to a beginning public school
20 teacher in the unit school district or high school district,
21 as the case may be, that encompasses the location where the
22 instructional employee performs his or her employment duties.
