1 AN ACT in relation to higher education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
5 changing Section 7g as follows:
6 (110 ILCS 305/7g)
7 Sec. 7g. Tuition waivers. In addition to any tuition
8 waivers that the Board of Trustees offers that are exempt by
9 statute from any tuition waiver limitation established by the
10 Illinois Board of Higher Education, the Board of Trustees is
11 authorized to waive, for persons individuals with the
12 requisite athletic, academic, or other abilities, that
13 percentage of its undergraduate tuition that is authorized
14 under the tuition waiver limitation established in
15 regulations promulgated by the Illinois Board of Higher
16 Education. If in any fiscal year the Board of Trustees
17 issues undergraduate tuition waivers to individuals in an
18 aggregate amount exceeding the aggregate tuition waiver
19 amount authorized for that fiscal year under the tuition
20 waiver limitation established by the Illinois Board of Higher
21 Education, the University's budget request for the succeeding
22 fiscal year may be reduced by the Illinois Board of Higher
23 Education by an amount equal to that tuition waiver excess.
