92_HB3110 LRB9206703NTsbA 1 AN ACT concerning education. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section 5 2-3.131 as follows: 6 (105 ILCS 5/2-3.131 new) 7 Sec. 2-3.131. Funding for operational expenses of summer 8 school program. In addition to grants school districts 9 receive under Section 18-4.3 of this Code and subject to 10 appropriation, the State Board of Education shall provide 50% 11 of the funding for the operational expenses, including 12 without limitation teacher salaries, of a school district's 13 summer school program for 30 days of instruction if (i) that 14 program consists of at least 30 days of instruction, (ii) 75% 15 of the program is for remedial education and 25% is for 16 enrichment, and (iii) the school district applies for the 17 funding. The other 50% of the funding shall be provided by 18 the school district and the parents or guardians of the 19 students attending the program. How much funding a parent or 20 guardian must provide shall be based on a sliding scale that 21 takes into account the financial situation of the family. 22 The State Board of Education shall adopt any rules necessary 23 to implement and administer this Section. 24 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect on 25 July 1, 2001.
