1 AN ACT in relation to service dogs.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Guide Dog Access Act is amended by
5 changing Section 1 as follows:
6 (720 ILCS 630/1) (from Ch. 38, par. 65-1)
7 Sec. 1. When a blind, hearing impaired or physically
8 handicapped person is accompanied by a dog that which serves
9 as a guide, or leader, or service dog for that such person,
10 neither the blind, hearing impaired or physically handicapped
11 person nor the dog nor the trainer for the service dog in
12 training shall be denied the right of entry and use of
13 facilities of any public place of accommodation as defined in
14 Section 5-101 of the "Illinois Human Rights Act", if the such
15 dog is wearing a harness and such person presents credentials
16 for inspection issued by a school for training guide dogs or
17 in the case of a service dog or service dog in training, is
18 on a leash and is wearing a cape for identification.
19 Any violation of this Act is a Class C misdemeanor.
