1 AN ACT concerning the Court of Claims.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Court of Claims Act is amended by adding
5 Section 0.5 as follows:
6 (705 ILCS 505/0.5 new)
7 Sec. 0.5. Abolition. The Court of Claims is abolished
8 on July 1, 2002. Not later than June 30, 2002, the Court of
9 Claims shall transfer to a circuit court of appropriate venue
10 each case pending before the Court of Claims. Each
11 transferred case shall be decided by the circuit court. On
12 and after July 1, 2002, a reference in another Act to the
13 Court of Claims shall be deemed to be a reference to the
14 circuit court.
15 The Secretary of State shall act as custodian of all
16 files in cases concluded on or before June 30, 2002, and
17 shall act as custodian of any other records or property of
18 the Court of Claims deemed necessary or appropriate for
19 preservation.
20 The abolition of the Court of Claims does not affect the
21 validity or enforceability of actions taken by the Court of
22 Claims on or before June 30, 2002.

24 Section 10. The Court of Claims Act is amended by
25 repealing Sections 1 through 28.

27 Section 15. The State Lawsuit Immunity Act is repealed.
28 Section 20. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
29 becoming law, except Sections 10 and 15 take effect on July
30 1, 2002.
