92_HB2062 LRB9206331DHmb 1 AN ACT in relation to vehicles. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by 5 adding Section 3-648 as follows: 6 (625 ILCS 5/3-648 new) 7 Sec. 3-648. Paratrooper license plates. 8 (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the 9 Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and 10 applications made in the form prescribed by the Secretary of 11 State, may issue Paratrooper license plates to residents of 12 Illinois who meet eligibility requirements prescribed by the 13 Secretary of State. The special Paratrooper plate issued 14 under this Section shall be affixed only to passenger 15 vehicles of the first division and motor vehicles of the 16 second division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. Plates 17 issued under this Section shall expire according to the 18 staggered multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1 19 of this Code. 20 (b) The design, color, and format of the plates shall be 21 wholly within the discretion of the Secretary of State. The 22 Secretary may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to 23 be issued as vanity or personalized plates in accordance with 24 Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The plates are not required to 25 designate "Land Of Lincoln", as prescribed in subsection (b) 26 of Section 3-412 of this Code. The Secretary shall prescribe 27 the eligibility requirements and, in his or her discretion, 28 shall approve and prescribe stickers or decals as provided 29 under Section 3-412. 30 (c) An applicant shall be charged a $15 fee for original 31 issuance in addition to the applicable registration fee. -2- LRB9206331DHmb 1 This additional fee shall be deposited into the Secretary of 2 State Special License Plate Fund. For each registration 3 renewal period, a $2 fee, in addition to the appropriate 4 registration fee, shall be charged and shall be deposited 5 into the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund.
