92_HB1687 LRB9205344MWks 1 AN ACT concerning emergency telephone services. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Emergency Telephone System Act is amended 5 by changing Section 2.16 as follows: 6 (50 ILCS 750/2.16) 7 Sec. 2.16. Private business switch service. "Private 8 business switch service" means a telecommunications service 9 including centrex type service and private branch exchange 10 service (PBX), even though key telephone systems or 11 equivalent telephone systems registered with the FCC under 47 12 C.F.R. Part 68 are directly connected to centrex type and PBX 13 systems providing 9-1-1 services equipped for switched local 14 network connections or 9-1-1 system access to business end 15 users through a private telephone switch. The term "private 16 business switch service" does not include key telephone 17 systems or equivalent telephone systems registered with the 18 FCC under 47 C.F.R. Part 68 when not used in conjunction with 19 centrex type and PBX systems. "Private business switch 20 service" typically includes, but is not limited to, private 21 businesses, corporations, and industries where the 22 telecommunications service is primarily for conducting 23 business.
