1 AN ACT in relation to elections.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing
5 Section 8-1 as follows:
6 (10 ILCS 5/8-1) (from Ch. 46, par. 8-1)
7 Sec. 8-1. Application of Article. The nomination of all
8 candidates for members of the General Assembly by all
9 political parties as defined in Section 8-2 of this Article
10 shall be made in the manner provided in this Article 8 and
11 not otherwise.
12 The name of no person, nominated by a party required
13 hereunder to make nominations of candidates for members of
14 the General Assembly shall be placed upon the official ballot
15 to be voted at the general election as a candidate unless
16 such person shall have been nominated for that such office
17 under the provisions of this Article 8.
