92_HB1320 LRB9205840MWcd 1 AN ACT in relation to veterans homes. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Department of Veterans Affairs Act is 5 amended by changing Section 2.01 as follows: 6 (20 ILCS 2805/2.01) (from Ch. 126 1/2, par. 67.01) 7 Sec. 2.01. Veterans Homes. Any honorably discharged 8 veteran is entitled to admission to an Illinois Veterans 9 Home, if the applicant: 10 (a) (1) Has served in the armed forces of the United 11 States at least one1day in the Spanish American War, World 12 War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Viet Nam 13 Campaign, or the Persian Gulf Conflict between the dates 14 recognized by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or 15 between any other present or future dates recognized by the 16 U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a war period for 17 purposes of eligibility for domiciliary or nursing home care; 18 or 19 (2) Has served on active duty in the armed forces for 20 one year for purposes of eligibility for domiciliary care 21 only; and 22 (b) Has service accredited to the State of Illinois or 23 has been a resident of this State for one year immediately 24 preceding the date of application; and 25 (c) For admission to the Illinois Veterans Homes at Anna 26 and Quincy, is disabled by disease, wounds, or otherwise and 27 because of the disability is incapable of earning a living; 28 or 29 (d) For admission to the Illinois Veterans Homes at 30 LaSalle and Manteno and for admission to the John Joseph 31 Kelly Veteran's Home, is disabled by disease, wounds, or -2- LRB9205840MWcd 1 otherwise and, for purposes of eligibility for nursing home 2 care, requires nursing care because of the disability. 3 (Source: P.A. 91-634, eff. 8-19-99.)
