1 AN ACT in relation to county government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by changing
5 Section 5-1001 as follows:
6 (55 ILCS 5/5-1001) (from Ch. 34, par. 5-1001)
7 Sec. 5-1001. Corporate name of county. Each county which
8 has been, or may be established in this State, according to
9 its the laws thereof, shall be a body politic and corporate,
10 by the name and style of "The county of ....," and by that
11 name may sue and be sued, plead and may be impleaded, defend
12 and be defended against in any court having jurisdiction of
13 the subject-matter, or other place where justice shall be
14 administered.
