92_HB0901 LRB9203784NTsb 1 AN ACT relating to higher education. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by 5 changing Section 7f as follows: 6 (110 ILCS 305/7f) (from Ch. 144, par. 28f) 7 Sec. 7f. Full tuition discountPartial tuition waivers. 8 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 9 university" means any of the following: the University of 10 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 11 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 12 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 13 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 14 Illinois University. 15 (b) Each year the Board of Trustees of the University of 16 Illinois shall offer 100% tuition discounts50% tuition17waiversfor undergraduate education at any campus under its 18 governance or supervision to the children of employees, 19 including retired employees, of an Illinois college or 20 university who have been employed by any one or by more than 21 one Illinois college or university for an aggregate period of 22 at least 7 years. "Retired employee" means a person receiving 23 a retirement or disability retirement annuity under the 24 Illinois Pension Code based on at least 7 years of service 25 with one or more than one Illinois college or university, 26 including a person who already is receiving such an annuity 27 on the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 92nd 28 General Assembly. To be eligible to receive a full tuition 29 discountpartial tuition waiver, the child of any suchan30 employee of an Illinois college or university (i) must be 31 under the age of 25 at the commencement of the academic year -2- LRB9203784NTsb 1 during which the full tuition discountpartial tuition waiver2 is to be effective, and (ii) must qualify for admission to 3 the University of Illinois under the same admissions 4 requirements, standards and policies which the University of 5 Illinois applies to applicants for admission generally to its 6 respective undergraduate colleges and programs. 7 (c) Subject to the provisions and limitations of 8 subsection (b), an eligible applicant who has continued to 9 maintain satisfactory academic progress toward graduation may 10 have his or her full tuition discountpartial tuition waiver11 renewed until the time as he or she has expended 4 years of 12 undergraduate full tuition discountpartial tuition waiver13 benefits under this Section. 14 (d) No full tuition discountpartial tuition waiver15 offered or allocated to any eligible applicant in accordance 16 with the provisions of this Section shall be charged against 17 any tuition waiver limitation established by the Illinois 18 Board of Higher Education. 19 (e) The Board of Trustees shall prescribe rules and 20 regulations as are necessary to implement and administer the 21 provisions of this Section. 22 (Source: P.A. 90-282, eff. 1-1-98.) 23 Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management 24 Act is amended by changing Section 8f as follows: 25 (110 ILCS 520/8f) (from Ch. 144, par. 658f) 26 Sec. 8f. Full tuition discountPartial tuition waivers. 27 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 28 university" means any of the following: the University of 29 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 30 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 31 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 32 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western -3- LRB9203784NTsb 1 Illinois University. 2 (b) Each year the Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois 3 University shall offer 100% tuition discounts50% tuition4waiversfor undergraduate education at any campus under its 5 governance or supervision to the children of employees, 6 including retired employees, of an Illinois college or 7 university who have been employed by any one or by more than 8 one Illinois college or university for an aggregate period of 9 at least 7 years. The Chicago State University Law is amended 8 by changing Section 5-90 as follows: 9 (110 ILCS 660/5-90) 10 Sec. 5-90. The Eastern Illinois University Law is 27 amended by changing Section 10-90 as follows: 28 (110 ILCS 665/10-90) 29 Sec. 10-90. "Retired employee" 13 means a person receiving a retirement or disability 14 retirement annuity under the Illinois Pension Code based on 15 at least 7 years of service with one or more than one 16 Illinois college or university, including a person who 17 already is receiving such an annuity on the effective date of 18 this amendatory Act of the 92nd General Assembly. The Governors State University Law is 12 amended by changing Section 15-90 as follows: 13 (110 ILCS 670/15-90) 14 Sec. 15-90. Full tuition discountPartial tuition15waivers. 16 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 17 university" means any of the following: the University of 18 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 19 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 20 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 21 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 22 Illinois University. 23 (b) Each year the Board of Governors State University 24 shall offer 100% tuition discounts50% tuition waiversfor 25 undergraduate education at any campus under its governance to 26 the children of employees, including retired employees, of an 27 Illinois college or university who have been employed by any 28 one or by more than one Illinois college or university for an 29 aggregate period of at least 7 years. "Retired employee" 30 means a person receiving a retirement or disability 31 retirement annuity under the Illinois Pension Code based on 32 at least 7 years of service with one or more than one -8- LRB9203784NTsb 1 Illinois college or university, including a person who 2 already is receiving such an annuity on the effective date of 3 this amendatory Act of the 92nd General Assembly. The Northeastern Illinois University Law is 16 amended by changing Section 25-90 as follows: 17 (110 ILCS 680/25-90) 18 Sec. 25-90. Full tuition discountPartial tuition19waivers. 20 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 21 university" means any of the following: the University of 22 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 23 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 24 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 25 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 26 Illinois University. 27 (b) Each year the Board of Northeastern Illinois 28 University shall offer 100% tuition discounts50% tuition29waiversfor undergraduate education at any campus under its 30 governance to the children of employees, including retired 31 employees, of an Illinois college or university who have been 32 employed by any one or by more than one Illinois college or -11- LRB9203784NTsb 1 university for an aggregate period of at least 7 years. 2 "Retired employee" means a person receiving a retirement or 3 disability retirement annuity under the Illinois Pension Code 4 based on at least 7 years of service with one or more than 5 one Illinois college or university, including a person who 6 already is receiving such an annuity on the effective date of 7 this amendatory Act of the 92nd General Assembly. Full tuition discountPartial tuition5waivers. 6 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 7 university" means any of the following: the University of 8 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 9 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 10 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 11 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 12 Illinois University. 13 (b) Each year the Board of Northern Illinois University 14 shall offer 100% tuition discounts50% tuition waiversfor 15 undergraduate education at any campus under its governance to 16 the children of employees, including retired employees, of an 17 Illinois college or university who have been employed by any 18 one or by more than one Illinois college or university for an 19 aggregate period of at least 7 years. The Western Illinois University Law is 20 amended by changing Section 35-90 as follows: 21 (110 ILCS 690/35-90) 22 Sec. 35-90. Full tuition discountPartial tuition23waivers. 24 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 25 university" means any of the following: the University of 26 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 27 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 28 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 29 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 30 Illinois University. 31 (b) Each year the Board of Western Illinois University 32 shall offer 100% tuition discounts50% tuition waiversfor -14- LRB9203784NTsb 1 undergraduate education at any campus under its governance to 2 the children of employees, including retired employees, of an 3 Illinois college or university who have been employed by any 4 one or by more than one Illinois college or university for an 5 aggregate period of at least 7 years. "Retired employee" 6 means a person receiving a retirement or disability 7 retirement annuity under the Illinois Pension Code based on 8 at least 7 years of service with one or more than one 9 Illinois college or university, including a person who 10 already is receiving such an annuity on the effective date of 11 this amendatory Act of the 92nd General Assembly.
