92_HB0820 LRB9204140DHmb 1 AN ACT in regard to vehicles. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by 5 changing Section 3-806.3 as follows: 6 (625 ILCS 5/3-806.3) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-806.3) 7 Sec. 3-806.3. Senior Citizens. 8 Commencing with the 1986 registration year and extending 9 through the 2000 registration year, the registration fee paid 10 by any vehicle owner who has claimed and received a grant 11 under the "Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons Property Tax 12 Relief and Pharmaceutical Assistance Act" or who is the 13 spouse of such a person shall be reduced by 50% for passenger 14 cars displaying standard multi-year registration plates 15 issued under Section 3-414.1, motor vehicles displaying 16 special registration plates issued under Section 3-616, motor 17 vehicles registered at 8,000 pounds or less under Section 18 3-815(a) and recreational vehicles registered at 8,000 pounds 19 or less under Section 3-815(b). Widows and widowers of 20 claimants shall also be entitled to the reduced registration 21 rate for the registration year in which the claimant was 22 eligible. 23 DuringCommencing withthe 2001 registration year, the 24 registration fee paid by any vehicle owner who has claimed 25 and received a grant under the "Senior Citizens and Disabled 26 Persons Property Tax Relief and Pharmaceutical Assistance 27 Act" or who is the spouse of such a person shall be $24 28 instead of the fee otherwise provided in this Code for 29 passenger cars displaying standard multi-year registration 30 plates issued under Section 3-414.1, motor vehicles 31 displaying special registration plates issued under Section -2- LRB9204140DHmb 1 3-616, motor vehicles registered at 8,000 pounds or less 2 under Section 3-815(a) and recreational vehicles registered 3 at 8,000 pounds or less under Section 3-815(b). Widows and 4 widowers of claimants shall also be entitled to this reduced 5 registration fee for the registration year in which the 6 claimant was eligible. 7 Commencing with the 2002 registration year, the 8 registration fee paid by any vehicle owner who is eligible 9 for a grant under the Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons 10 Property Tax Relief and Pharmaceutical Assistance Act or who 11 is the spouse of an eligible person shall be $24 instead of 12 the fee otherwise provided in this Code for passenger cars 13 displaying standard multi-year registration plates issued 14 under Section 3-414.1, motor vehicles displaying special 15 registration plates issued under Section 3-616, motor 16 vehicles registered at 8,000 pounds or less under Section 17 3-815(a) and recreational vehicles registered at 8,000 pounds 18 or less under Section 3-815(b). Widows and widowers of 19 eligible persons are also entitled to this reduced 20 registration fee for the registration year in which the 21 person was eligible. 22 No more than one reduced registration fee under this 23 Section shall be allowed during any 12 month period based on 24 the primary eligibility of any individual, whether such 25 reduced registration fee is allowed to the individual or to 26 the spouse, widow or widower of such individual. This 27 Section does not apply to the fee paid in addition to the 28 registration fee for motor vehicles displaying personalized 29 license plates under Section 3-806.1. 30 (Source: P.A. 91-37, eff. 7-1-99.)
