92_HB0671 LRB9202946ARsb 1 AN ACT concerning criminal law. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 is 5 amended by adding Section 115-21 as follows: 6 (725 ILCS 5/115-21 new) 7 Sec. 115-21. Exclusion of witnesses. At the request of 8 the State or the defendant or on its own motion, the court 9 may order witnesses excluded so that they cannot hear the 10 testimony of other witnesses. 11 This Section does not authorize exclusion of an 12 investigative officer or agent of the State or a 13 representative of the defendant whose presence is shown by 14 the State or defendant to be essential to the State's or 15 defendant's cause. 16 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 17 becoming law.
