1 AN ACT concerning junkyards.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 1. The Junkyard Act is amended by changing
5 Section 1 as follows:
6 (415 ILCS 95/1) (from Ch. 121, par. 461)
7 Sec. 1. Public policy. For the purpose of promoting the
8 public safety, health, welfare, convenience and enjoyment of
9 public travel, to protect the public investment in public
10 highways, and to preserve and enhance the scenic beauty of
11 lands bordering public highways, it is declared to be in the
12 public interest to regulate and restrict the establishment,
13 operation, and maintenance of junkyards or scrap processing
14 facilities in areas adjacent to the Federal-Aid Interstate
15 and Federal-Aid Primary Systems of Highways within this
16 State. Junkyards or scrap processing facilities that which do
17 not conform to the requirements of this Act are declared to
18 be public nuisances.
