Senate Sponsors: BURZYNSKI. Short description: OPTOMETRY-FEE SHARING Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Optometric Practice Act of 1987. Provides that any individual or entity that influences or attempts to influence patient care decisions of a licensed optometrist under the individual's or entity's control shall pay, in addition to any other penalty provided by law, a civil penalty to the Department in an amount not to exceed $5,000 per offense. Excludes the division of fees between 2 optometrists, an optometrist and a physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches, or an optometrist and a licensed health care facility in a contractual or employment relationship from the grounds for disciplinary action. Effective immediately.
