House Sponsors: WINKEL-TURNER,JOHN-RIGHTER-GASH Short description: CIVIL PRO-JURISDICTION-PERSON Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Juvenile Court Act and the Code of Civil Procedure. In the Code of Civil Procedure, changes procedure for making a special appearance to one for objecting to a court's jurisdiction over the person of the objecting party. Permits the objection to be made by filing a motion to dismiss or to quash service of process, and auth- orizes the motion to be combined with other motions. Provides that if the objecting party files a responsive pleading or a motion (other than a motion for an extension of time to answer or otherwise appear) before filing a motion objecting to the court's jurisdiction over the party's person, the party waives all objections to that jurisdiction. Makes other changes. Makes a conforming change in the Juvenile Court Act of 1987 in a Section concerning summonses and appearances in a proceeding alleging that a minor is abused, neglected, or dependent.
