Senate Sponsors: WELCH. Short description: CONS FRAUD-REBATE-ADVERTISING Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Provides that it is an unlawful practice for a retailer to advertise the availability of a manufacturer's rebate by displaying the net price of the advertised item in the advertisement unless the amount of the manufacturer's rebate is discounted from the purchase price of the advertised item at the time of sale to the consumer. Provides that a retailer is not required to provide the purchaser of an advertised item with the amount of the manufacturer's rebate if the retailer advertises that a manufacturer's rebate is available without stating the net price of the item in the advertisement.
