House Sponsors: JONES,LOU-FEIGENHOLTZ-HOWARD-JONES,SHIRLEY-RONEN Short description: DP-HLTH-WOMNS HLTH-CANCER Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the staff person of the Department of Public Health who handles women's health issues to provide information to members of the public, patients, and health care providers regarding women's gynecological cancer. Provides that the Department may develop or contract with others to develop materials regarding women's gynecological cancers or may survey available publications from the National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society. Provides for making the materials available to the public. Provides that the Department shall consult with appropriate health care professionals and providers, patients, and organizations representing health care professionals and providers and patients. Requires the staff person to publish the women's health care summary required under the Act. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Further amends the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Deletes a reference to the Illinois State Medical Society. Deletes the provision that health care providers must make the Department's materials on women's gynecological cancers available to patients. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 2. Adds reference to: 20 ILCS 2310/55.56a new 20 ILCS 105/4.11 new Amends the Illinois Act on the Aging and further amends the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the Department on Aging and the Department of Public Health to develop programs and materials targeted to persons 50 years of age and more concerning the dangers of HIV and AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases.
