Senate Sponsors: SULLIVAN Short description: CRIM VICTIMS COMP ACT Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Crime Victims Compensation Act. In determining pecuniary loss for the minor child of a deceased person, revises the method of determining the amount of support when the minor child is the subject of a prior support order. Provides that a felon is ineligible to receive compensation as a victim until after his or her sentence is completed. Adds a child or stepchild of the person killed or injured to the list of those under age 18 who may be compensated for psychological treatment for having witnessed a violent act upon a family member. Effective immediately. SENATE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Provides that a felon released from a correctional institution may not recover under the Act as a victim until he or she is discharged from mandatory supervised release.
