Senate Sponsors: MUNOZ-LIGHTFORD-SILVERSTEIN Short description: CRIM CD-MOTOR VEHICLE-ASSAULT Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Provides that committing an assault by using a motor vehicle is aggravated assault. Provides that the penalty is a Class 3 felony. Creates the offense of aggravated battery with a motor vehicle defined as knowingly or intentionally causing great bodily harm or permanent disability or disfigurement by means of the operation or use of a motor vehicle when committing a battery. Penalty is a Class 1 felony. Provides that a motor vehicle used to commit any of these offenses is subject to seizure and forfeiture. FISCAL NOTE (Dept. of Corrections) There will be an estimated 20 inmates added to the corrections population, and $4,041,900 in additional operating and con- struction costs over ten years.
