House Sponsors: FEIGENHOLTZ. Short description: PET DAY CARES Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Animal Welfare Act. Defines "pet day care facility". Provides that, beginning January 1, 2001, no person shall operate a pet day care facility in Cook County without a license issued by the Department of Agriculture. Provides that pets enrolled in those facilities may be commingled if the owners of the pets provide evidence that the vaccination records of the pets are current and in compliance with all vaccination requirements of law for the boarding of pets and provide signed informed consent forms prescribed by the Department. Effective immediately. FISCAL NOTE (Department of Agriculture) The fiscal impact is unknown, but is expected to be minimal. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Replaces the title and everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the provisions of the bill as introduced with the following changes. Changes all references to a pet day care facility to a dog day care facility. Deletes the limitation to Cook County from the definition of "dog day care facility". Provides that the owner of a dog must provide a certificate of health and proof of vaccination against distemper, rabies, the parvo virus, and other communicable diseases or viruses as specified by rule of the Department.
