Short description: 
FOOD INSPECTOR-ENVIRON HEALTH                                              

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Creates the State  Grant  Food  Inspection  Act  and  amends  the      
   Department  of  Public  Health  Act,  the Civil Administrative Code of      
   Illinois, the Counties Code, the Illinois Municipal Code,  the  Public      
   Health  District Act, and the Sanitary Food Preparation Act.  Requires      
   that food protection inspections authorized by law or paid from  State      
   grants   must  be  conducted  by  environmental  health  practitioners      
   licensed under the Environmental Health  Practitioner  Licensing  Act.      
   Authorizes  the  Department  of  Public Health to regulate and conduct      
   investigations into food protection inspections.                            
          FISCAL NOTE (Department of Agriculture)                              
          The legislation would require removal of 112 of the Depart-          
          ment's 119 personnel, who do not possess the degree require-         
          ments for licensure under the bill. The total impact to the          
          Department, involving costs for separation of current em-            
          ployees, examinations, hiring and training licensed personnel,       
          as well as increased salaries, is estimated at $1,812,130.
