House Sponsors: MATHIAS-CROTTY-DAVIS,MONIQUE. Short description: PHARMACY-LABELS Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Pharmacy Practice Act of 1987. Provides that for each prescription filled, a pharmacy must include with the filled prescription a printout containing, in addition to any other information required by law, (i) comments from the prescriber as to why a medication is prescribed and the dose required or (ii) an Individualized Prescription Form (IPF), which must include the name, characteristics, possible reactions, reasons for prescribing, and desired outcomes. Provides that the Department of Professional Regulation shall adopt standards for the size of print to be used on labels so as to ensure that the labels can be easily read by seniors or persons with poor eyesight. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Adds reference to: 225 ILCS 85/19.7 new Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Pharmacy Practice Act of 1987. Provides that a pharmacist shall, at the patient's request, include with a filled prescription an Individualized Prescription Form (IPF), which shall include specified information. Provides that, in addition to any other requirement of law, a pharmacist shall prominently display a sign where prescriptions are physically distributed to the patient that shall inform the patient that the pharmacist is legally required to offer to counsel the patient on the prescription at the patient's request. Provides that the Department of Professional Regulation shall adopt standards for the size of print to be used on labels so as to ensure that the labels can be easily read by seniors or persons with poor eyesight.
