House Sponsors: LYONS,JOSEPH. Short description: VEH CD-IMAGES-BAR CODES Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that no other entity may maintain a file of all or any subset of the photographs or signatures obtained by the Secretary of State in the process of issuing driver's licenses. Provides the circumstances under which named and defined entities may disclose the photographs and signatures. Provides penalties for violations. Provides that the Secretary may impose additional restrictions on use and dissemination of signature images by administrative rule. Provides that encrypted electronic information stored on driver's licenses, permits, and identification cards is confidential and may not be disclosed except to specified persons and entities. Provides that a person who, without authorization from the Secretary, uses or distributes non-public information or security procedures commits the offense of unlawful use of encrypted bar code information, a Class 4 felony.
