Short description: DISPENSING GENERIC DRUGS Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Pharmacy Practice Act and the Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. Provides that pharmacists may substitute generic brand drugs, provided that the selected drug has been rated therapeutically equivalent to the prescribed drug in the Orange book and is not a critical dose drug. Allows the Technical Advisory Council to consider drugs that require a prescription and are legally marketed in the United States according to FDA regulations. Defines "critical dose drug". Effective immediately. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes reference to: 410 ILCS 620/3.14 from Ch. 56 1/2, par. 503.14 Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Pharmacy Practice Act of 1987 to make technical changes in a Section relating to drug selection.
