SCH CD-SUPP ST AID-LOW INC LEV                                             

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Amends the School Code.  Provides that, for any school year,  the      
   supplemental  general  State  aid grant for any school district with a      
   low income concentration level of more than 0% and less than 20% shall      
   be $500 multiplied by the low income eligible pupil count.   Effective      
   immediately.                                                                
        HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1.                                                 
        Provides that the supplemental general  State  aid  grant  for  a      
   school  district with a low income concentration level of more than 0%      
   and less than 20% is only for the 2000-2001 school  year  (instead  of      
   for any school year).                                                       
          FISCAL NOTE, AMENDED (State Board of Education)                      
          HB 2961, as amended, would require a $40.1 million increase in       
          appropriations for General State Aid, and a reduction of $9.2        
          million for the Hold Harmless. The net effect would be in-           
          creased expenditures of $30.9 million.                               
          STATE MANDATES NOTE, AMENDED (State Board of Education)
