Senate Sponsors: BURZYNSKI-WATSON-HALVORSON-CLAYBORNE-SILVERSTEIN Short description: SCH CD-ST AID AUDIT ADJUSTMENT Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the School Code. Prohibits the State Board of Education from making audit adjustments to general State aid claims paid in fiscal years 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 based upon the claimant's failure to provide a minimum of 5 clock hours of daily instruction to students in an alternative education program. Effective immediately. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Also prohibits the audit adjustments based upon the claimant's provision of service to non-resident students in an alternative education program without charging tuition, provided that the non-resident students were enrolled in the alternative education program on or before January 1, 2001. FISCAL NOTE, H-AM 1 (State Board of Education) If HB 2917, with H-am 1, were to pass, SBE would not recoup approximately $2.9 million in improperly claimed general State aid reimbursements.
