In the Section concerning the offense of hate crime, replaces the requirement that a person must commit one of the specified offenses "by reason of" the actual or perceived race or other attribute of the victim with the requirement that the person must commit one of the specified offenses "based in whole or in part" upon the actual or perceived race or other attribute of the victim. FISCAL NOTE (Department of Corrections) HB2879 would have a corrections population impact of 7 additional inmates and a fiscal impact of $1,384,300.
