Short description: 
IDPH-HEPATITIS C SCREENING                                                 

Synopsis of Bill as introduced:
        Creates the Hepatitis C Screening and  Awareness  Act.   Provides      
   that   the  Illinois  Department  of  Public  Health  shall  establish      
   education programs  and  resource  identification  services  regarding      
   hepatitis  C.  Itemizes the strategies that the Department may use for      
   raising public awareness of the causes of hepatitis C,  the  value  of      
   prevention  and  early  detection,  and  options  for  diagnosing  and      
   treating  the disease.  Provides that the Department shall use certain      
   strategies,  protocols,  and  guidelines  adopted  by   the   National      
   Institutes  of  Health  on  hepatitis  C.   Requires the screening for      
   hepatitis C of incoming mental health  or  developmental  disabilities      
   facility residents, prisoners entering State correctional institutions      
   or facilities, and employees who come into direct contact with each of      
   those groups.

          is unknown.
