House Sponsors: MADIGAN,MJ. Senate Sponsors: JONES,E-DILLARD Short description: JUDGES-COOK COUNTY Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Circuit Courts Act and the Associate Judges Act. Provides that in the Circuit of Cook County, after the effective date of this amendatory Act, the chief judge shall not be chosen by the circuit judges of the circuit but shall instead be appointed by the Governor with the approval of the Senate. Provides that in the Circuit of Cook County, an associate judge may not serve as Supervisor Judge or in the Chancery, Law, or Criminal divisions of the court. Provides that in the Circuit of Cook County, a vacancy in the office of associate judge must be filled by appointment of a person who resides in the subcircuit in which he or she will serve. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes reference to: 705 ILCS 35/4.05 new 705 ILCS 45/2.5 new Adds reference to: 705 ILCS 35/1 from Ch. 37, par. 72.1 705 ILCS 45/2 from Ch. 37, par. 160.2 Deletes everything. Amends the Circuit Courts Act and the Associate Judges Act. Adds captions to Sections concerning the judicial circuits of the State and the number of associate judges.
