Short description: VEH CD-RED LIGHT-TECH Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to make a stylistic change to the Section concerned with an automated red light enforcement system. FISCAL NOTE, H-AM 2 (Secretary of State) Estimated first year costs are $103,000; additional costs each year thereafter would be $97,000 HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 2. Adds reference to: 625 ILCS 5/6-204 from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 6-204 625 ILCS 5/11-208.3 from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-208.3 625 ILCS 5/11-306 from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-306 Deletes everything. Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to remove the limitations as to when an automated red light enforcement system may be used. Provides that the owner of a vehicle used in a red light violation shall be liable for the violation (instead of only a violation that results in an accident or reckless driving that results in bodily injury), with certain exceptions. Provides that a municipality with a population of 1,000,000 or more may utilize a red light enforcement pilot program for violations at certain intersections within the municipality. In a Section concerning administrative adjudication of violations, adds violations recorded by the red light enforcement system. Requires a municipality to forward a report of the adjudication to the Secretary of State. Provides when an owner of a vehicle is not liable for certain violations. Effective immediately.
