House Sponsors: GASH-FRANKS. Short description: GOVT ETHICS-STMNTS-INTERNET Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act. Deletes a provision requiring persons examining economic disclosure statements to provide personal information. Deletes a provision that requires that a person whose statement is examined be notified of the examination. Provides that the Secretary of State shall make the statements of economic interests filed by candidates for and persons holding the offices of Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Comptroller, and State Treasurer and by members of and candidates to the General Assembly accessible through the World Wide Web no later than May 1, 2001. FISCAL NOTE (Secretary of State) The first year impact of this legislation will be $50,000, with an additional cost of $15,000 each year thereafter.
