91_SR0325 LRB9113580KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 extend their sincere sympathy to the family and friends of 4 Kenneth R. Boyle, who recently passed away; and 5 WHEREAS, Kenneth Boyle was born in Springfield, Illinois, 6 the son of Clarence and Mary Yacup Boyle; in 1980 he married 7 Jeanne Liston; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. Boyle was a graduate of Virden High School, 9 the University of Illinois, Phi Beta Kappa, and the 10 University of Illinois School of Law; he served in the United 11 States Army, where he earned the rank of Sergeant; and 12 WHEREAS, Kenneth Boyle served in the Illinois House of 13 Representatives for three terms, from 1970 to 1976; from 1976 14 to 1980 he served as the State's Attorney for Macoupin 15 County; he retired as Director of the Office of the State's 16 Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor in 1992; and 17 WHEREAS, Kenneth Boyle was appointed to the State Board 18 of Elections by Governor Jim Edgar in 1995; in July of 1999 19 he was elected the Chairman of the State Board of Elections; 20 Mr. Boyle also served as the chairman of the University of 21 Illinois Board of Trustees; and 22 WHEREAS, Kenneth Boyle was a partner with the law firm of 23 Boyle and McClain; he served as a member of the Illinois 24 Criminal Justice Information Authority and the State 25 Universities Civil Service System; he was a registered 26 lobbyist and member of the National Rifle Association; he was 27 a member of the Elks Club, the Knights of Columbus, AARP, the 28 Democratic Party, and ARC and was the president of the 29 Glenwood Park Homeowners Association; and 30 WHEREAS, Kenneth R. Boyle is survived by his wife, 31 Jeanne; his sons, Kenneth Boyle and Brad (Karen) Frost; his -2- LRB9113580KBkb 1 daughters, Leryn Boyle, Megan Boyle, Michele (David) Dunn, 2 and Julie (Arvid) Hammers; his three grandchildren; his 3 mother, Mary Boyle; and his sister, Mary Diane Boyle; 4 therefore, be it 5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 7 all that knew and loved him, the death of Kenneth R. Boyle of 8 Chatham, Illinois; and be it further 9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 10 presented to the family of Kenneth R. Boyle.
