91_SR0314 LRB9113496CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The Illinois Community College Board will set 3 aside a date in the spring of each year as Recognition Day 4 for community college students nominated to the Phi Theta 5 Kappa Honor Society All-Illinois Academic Team and as 6 Recognition Day for community college students in attendance 7 for Student Lobby Day; and 8 WHEREAS, This day has been formally constituted to 9 include those Illinois community college students named by 10 their college presidents as having achieved high academic 11 standards and noteworthy community involvement; such 12 recognition of these students and the All-Illinois Academic 13 Team program promotes the excellent educational quality of 14 Illinois' community college system; and 15 WHEREAS, This day has been formally constituted to 16 recognize the community college students of the State of 17 Illinois and advocate educational issues concerning community 18 colleges at the State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois; and 19 WHEREAS, The 2000 Recognition Day will officially occur 20 with a ceremony in the State Capitol Rotunda on April 5, 21 2000; therefore, be it 22 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 23 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge Governor 24 George Ryan to sign a proclamation declaring April 5, 2000 as 25 "All-Illinois Academic Team Recognition Day and Community 26 College Student Lobby Day"; and be it further 27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be sent 28 to Governor George Ryan.
