91_SR0279 LRB9113123KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 3 express their sincere condolences to the family and friends 4 of Edward R. Albert, who recently passed away; and 5 WHEREAS, Edward R. Albert was born on a farm near 6 Freeport, Illinois, on November 5, 1895; his parents were 7 Emil and Minnie (Kortermeier) Albert; and 8 WHEREAS, Edward R. Albert was a veteran of the armed 9 forces, serving his country in World War I; and 10 WHEREAS, Edward R. Albert was a structural engineer and 11 worked for Graham, Anderson, Probst, and White in the 1920's 12 and 1930's; Mr. Albert performed design work and supervised 13 the construction of such buildings as the Chicago and 14 Washington Post Offices, the Penn Railway Station in 15 Philadelphia, the Chase National Bank building in New York 16 City, and the Builders building, the Field building, and the 17 State Bank building in Chicago; he became a partner in the 18 Vern E. Alden Company in the 1940's, where he supervised 19 construction of many plants and factories, including a secret 20 facility built in Memphis during World War II that produced 21 an ingredient of synthetic rubber; and 22 WHEREAS, Edward R. Albert retired in 1959; he continued 23 to serve in his community of Glen Ellyn, working on the 24 Zoning Board of Appeals and working around his home and 25 garden; he was a part of the First Congregational Church of 26 Glen Ellyn; he was active in the Geneva American Legion Post 27 #73; and 28 WHEREAS, Edward R. Albert is survived by his son, David 29 Albert; his daughter, Marion Albert; his grandsons, Keith and 30 Steven and their wives; his granddaughters, Laurie and Jill 31 and their husbands; his 7 great-grandchildren; and many -2- LRB9113123KBkb 1 grandnieces and grandnephews; therefore, be it 2 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 3 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 4 all that knew him, the death of Edward R. Albert; may there 5 be peace in this time of loss; and be it further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to the family of Edward R. Albert.
