91_SR0248 LRB9110775KBkb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are saddened to learn 3 of the death of Keith M. Bell of Bement, Illinois, who 4 recently passed away; and 5 WHEREAS, Keith M. Bell was born on June 12, 1921 in 6 Decatur, Illinois to William Channing Bell and Mabel 7 McLaughlin Bell; he married Ruth Marie Gragg in Decatur, 8 Illinois on June 16, 1946; and 9 WHEREAS, Keith M. Bell received his early education in 10 the Decatur school system and later graduated from Bement 11 High School; he attended Illinois Commercial College and the 12 University of Illinois; during World War II he served with 13 the United States Army; he was stationed at Headquarters 14 Mediterranean Base Sect., Oran, North Africa; Allied Force 15 Headquarters in Caserta, Italy; Headquarters Southern Line of 16 Communications, Dijon, France; and Headquarters European 17 Theater of Operations in Paris, France; in Paris he served 18 directly under the command of General Dwight D. Eisenhower; 19 and 20 WHEREAS, Keith M. Bell returned from World War II and 21 joined his father at the Bell Insurance Agency; in 1957 he 22 formed the Bell and Wilkinson Agency with Lew Wilkinson; and 23 WHEREAS, Keith M. Bell was a member of the Bement United 24 Methodist Church; he served as a volunteer fireman for the 25 Bement Fire Protection District; he was a village trustee for 26 8 years; he was a 50-year member of the Albert Parker Post 27 620 American Legion; he was a 45-year member of Bement 28 Masonic Lodge 365; he was a member of the board of the Bement 29 Veterans Memorial constructed in 1999; and many other groups 30 and organizations; and 31 WHEREAS, Keith M. Bell will be remembered for his love of -2- LRB9110775KBkb 1 photography; his office wall had many photos showing the 2 history of Bement; and 3 WHEREAS, Keith M. Bell is survived by his wife, Ruth; his 4 son, William H. Bell and his wife, Linda; his daughter, 5 Barbara Pittman and her husband, Mark; his grandchildren, 6 William M. Bell, Brian Bell, and Erin Pittman; and his close 7 family member, William F. McManus; therefore, be it 8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we extend our sincere 10 sympathies to the family and friends of Keith M. Bell in this 11 time of loss; may they know a sense of peace in the days 12 ahead; and be it further 13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 14 presented to the family of Keith M. Bell.
