91_SR0245 LRB9110805CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn 3 of the death of Mrs. Betty Ann Ross of Chicago on January 3, 4 2000; and 5 WHEREAS, She was born on July 13, 1934, one of twin 6 daughters; she was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha 7 Dukes Couch; her father, James R. Couch, Jr.; and her twin 8 sister, Mary Ann Prather; and 9 WHEREAS, She received her primary and secondary education 10 at John D. Shoop Elementary School and Morgan Park High 11 School in Chicago; and 12 WHEREAS, She was employed by the Engine Ware Distributing 13 Company as an administrative assistant for twenty-three 14 years; and 15 WHEREAS, She was active in community affairs, including 16 the John D. Shoop 49ers Alumni Association and the 17 Beautifying Club, the Deaconess Board, and the Bible Class 18 and Sunday School of the New Israelite Baptist Church; and 19 WHEREAS, Her passing will be deeply felt by her family 20 and friends, especially her husband, Johnny; her brother and 21 sister-in-law, James and Ardeena Couch; her sisters, Alice 22 Daniels and Glenrose Bailey; her brothers-in-law, Edward 23 Daniels and Albert Prather; her sisters-in-law, Constance 24 Dukes, Annie Mae Ross, Irene Ross, Dorothy Grant, and Alma 25 Baxter; and her uncle and aunts, Alfred and Norma Couch and 26 Dorothy E. Powell; therefore, be it 27 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow 29 and regret the death of Mrs. Betty Ann Ross and extend our 30 sincere condolences to her family and friends; and be it 31 further -2- LRB9110805CBcb 1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 2 presented to her husband, Johnny Ross.
