 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
 3    of the death  of  Darlene  L.  Paris-Bradley  of  Chicago  on
 4    Monday, December 13, 1999; and

 5        WHEREAS,  She  was born on May 26, 1939; she received her
 6    Bachelor's  Degree  in  Business  Administration   from   the
 7    University  of Iowa School of Business Administration and her
 8    Master's Degree in Science, Industrial Relations, from Loyola
 9    University Institute of Industrial Relations; and

10        WHEREAS, She was the  President  and  Co-Founder  of  ASI
11    Personnel  Service,  Inc.,  the  nation's  largest and oldest
12    minority owned and operated full service personnel firm;  she
13    founded  ASI  in  1967 as a telephone answering service; now,
14    ASI is a major provider of temporary and permanent  clerical,
15    technical, and managerial personnel; and

16        WHEREAS,  She began the 32-year old business venture with
17    members of an investment club  in  her  native  Chicago;  the
18    multi-million  dollar  company,  which  she  later purchased,
19    deals with the employment needs of large organizations; and

20        WHEREAS, She has  received  many  awards,  including  the
21    Employer  of  the  Year  of the Lake County Urban League, the
22    Outstanding Black Business Woman of the Year from the Parkway
23    Community House, the Illinois Service Company  of  the  Year,
24    the  State of Illinois Minority Vendor of the Year, the Black
25    Woman Hall of Fame, the Chicago Transit Authority  Vendor  of
26    the  Month, the Silver Blackhawk Award from the University of
27    Iowa, and the Cosmopolitan  Award  for  Outstanding  Business
28    Women; and

29        WHEREAS,  She  was affiliated with the Governing Board of
30    Directors of the WBEZ Alliance, the Chicago Crime Commission,
31    the Economic Club of Chicago, the Girl Scouts of Chicago, the

 1    League of Black Women, the  Loyola  University  Institute  of
 2    Industrial  Relations, United Charities, the Lyric Opera, the
 3    University of Iowa Alumni Association, the  Chicago  Regional
 4    Purchasing  Council,  and  the  National Association of Woman
 5    Business Owners; and

 6        WHEREAS, Her passing will be deeply felt  by  her  family
 7    and  friends,  especially  her  mother,  Mrs.  Clarice Warren
 8    Moore; her sister, Diane Paris Ray; and her brother,  William
 9    Paris; therefore, be it

10        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
11    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note  with  sorrow
12    and  regret  the death of Darlene L. Paris-Bradley and extend
13    our sincere condolences to her family and friends; and be  it
14    further

15        RESOLVED,  That  suitable  copies  of  this resolution be
16    presented to her family.
