1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn
3 of the death of Lukeman H. "Luke" Zeller of Jacksonville on
4 Sunday, October 24, 1999; and
5 WHEREAS, He was born near Alexander on August 1, 1918,
6 the son of Joseph and Adelaide Lukeman Zeller; he married
7 Emily Rose Nichols in 1941 in Alexander, who preceded him in
8 death in 1995; and
9 WHEREAS, He served during World War II in the military,
10 earning a silver and a bronze battle star, the Presidential
11 Citation Award, and the Belgian Croix de Guerre; and
12 WHEREAS, He was the owner and operator of a grain and
13 livestock farm near Alexander; and
14 WHEREAS, Mr. Zeller was a member of the Church of Our
15 Savior, the Elks Club, the Knights of Columbus, and the VFW
16 and was a 50-year member of the Jacksonville Country Club;
17 and
18 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by his family
19 and friends, especially his sons, Norman, Dr. Richard, and
20 Bradley; his daughters-in-law, Kim and Cindy; his daughter
21 and son-in-law, Barbara and David Zeller-Gross; his ten
22 grandchildren; his brother, Robert; and his sister, Dorothy
23 Joy; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
25 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow
26 and regret the death of Lukeman H. Zeller and extend our
27 sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it
28 further
29 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
30 forwarded to the family of Lukeman H. Zeller.
