1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Senate Resolution 41 of the 91st General
3 Assembly created the Mental Health Evaluation and Treatment
4 Task Force to examine the laws of this State to determine
5 whether this State is fulfilling its responsibilities toward
6 its citizens who may need mental health evaluation and
7 treatment; and
8 WHEREAS, The laws of this State should also be examined
9 to determine ways to improve the treatment of persons with
10 mental illness who are in pre-trial detention facilities;
11 therefore, be it
12 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the members appointed
14 to the Mental Health Evaluation and Treatment Task Force
15 created by Senate Resolution 41 of the 91st General Assembly
16 shall convene to examine Illinois laws to determine ways to
17 improve the treatment of persons with mental illness who are
18 in pre-trial detention facilities.
19 RESOLVED, That for the purpose of examining Illinois laws
20 pursuant to this resolution, the following persons shall be
21 added to the membership of the Task Force: the Director of
22 Corrections or his or her designee; the State Appellate
23 Defender or his or her designee; a representative of the
24 Illinois Sheriffs' Association; and a representative of the
25 John Howard Association; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That the Task Force shall report its
27 recommendations for legislation pursuant to this resolution
28 to the Senate not later than December 31, 2000; and be it
29 further
30 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution shall
31 be presented to each member of the Task Force.
