1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 extend their sincere sympathies to the family and friends of
4 Joey Saccomanno, who recently passed away; and
5 WHEREAS, Joey Saccomanno was considered a hero by many
6 that knew this courageous young man; during a baseball game
7 with his team, the Orioles, Joey complained of a sore leg,
8 and was later diagnosed with cancer; and
9 WHEREAS, Joey Saccomanno was remembered by his community
10 in a variety of ways: the City Council held a moment of
11 silence after hearing of his passing, the flag at Hinkley
12 Park flew at half-staff in his memory, and his brother Matt's
13 baseball team used Joey's bat in tribute to the young man;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, Joey Saccomanno attended Field School and
16 Emerson Middle School; and
17 WHEREAS, He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Susan
18 Saccomanno; his brother, Matt; his sister, Jamie; his
19 grandparents, George and Hilda Ogorek and Guy and Mary
20 Saccomanno; his aunts, Charlotte Ogorek and Joanne
21 Saccomanno; his uncle, George Ogorek; and his cousin, Andrew
22 Falcone; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL
24 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
25 all who knew this brave young man, the death of Joey
26 Saccomanno; may all that need comfort find it at this time;
27 and be it further
28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to the family of Joey Saccomanno.
