91_SR0173 LRB9107667KBkbA 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 3 to learn of the death of Anthony Tyrone Walker of East St. 4 Louis, Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, Anthony Walker was born July 11, 1953; he was 6 educated in School District 189 in East St. Louis; he 7 accepted Christ as his personal savior in June of 1978; he 8 married Gloria Gladney on June 7, 1975; and 9 WHEREAS, Anthony was employed with the United Parcel 10 Service; he was a member of Mount Calvary Church of God in 11 Christ in East St. Louis, under the pastorage of Bishop 12 William Scott; Mr. Walker was a faithful member of the church 13 and supported the church in all its functions; and 14 WHEREAS, Mr. Walker started the PTAs in Edgemont and AM 15 Jackson; he started a neighborhood watch, the Phoenix Courts 16 Screening Committee, and the State Board PTA; he was a parent 17 board member of the Principals Scholar Program; he was a 18 church administrator and chairman of the audio department, 19 and served as a trustee; he served as a church bus driver, a 20 father figure in his neighborhood, and supported his children 21 and their many athletic teams; he was also involved in 22 catering hospitality as a turkey smoker; and 23 WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna 24 Robinson and Lucuis Walker; and by his grandmother, Ella 25 Robinson, who raised Mr. Walker; and 26 WHEREAS, Anthony Walker is survived by his wife, Gloria 27 Cassandra Walker; his sons, Anthony Alexander and Tyrone 28 Christopher Walker; his daughter, Cassandra Lynette Marie 29 Walker; his mother-in-law, Elvira Gladney; his cousins, Esta 30 Johnson, Barbara Carol Smith, and Paula (Kenneth) 31 O'Neal-Wade; his aunts, Daverne (Willie) Venerable, Estella -2- LRB9107667KBkbA 1 Esta Jethro, Elnora Doris Smith, and Marie Robinson; his 2 godchildren, Wendell, Amber, Rachel, and Kenneth Jr.; his six 3 sisters-in-law; his six brothers-in-law; and many cousins, 4 nieces, nephews, friends, and church and community members; 5 therefore, be it 6 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 8 his family and friends, the death of Anthony Walker of East 9 St. Louis; and be it further 10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 11 presented to the family of Anthony Walker, along with our 12 sincere regards.
