91_SR0159 LRB9107056CBcb 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate were saddened to learn 3 of the death of Mrs. Selma Pierson Buckner of Chicago on June 4 9, 1999; and 5 WHEREAS, She was born in Campti, Louisiana, on July 6, 6 1920; she moved to Chicago in 1947, where she later married 7 Leroy Buckner; and 8 WHEREAS, She received Christ at an early age and was 9 baptized at St. Peter's Baptist Church in Campti; she became 10 a member of the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, where she 11 served as a Missionary and in the Magi Pride Club, until she 12 became ill; and 13 WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; 14 her son, Wilbert Stephens; her grandson, Roderick McCoy; her 15 sister, Elma Ellis; and her brothers, Edward, Jay, Morris 16 Jr., and Ricky Pierson; and 17 WHEREAS, Her passing will be deeply felt by her family 18 and friends, especially her sons, Johnnie L. McCoy, Jr. and 19 Fredrick Buckner; her daughters, Katie Brown, Cassandra 20 Turner, and Mina Henderson; her daughter-in-law, Dorothy 21 McCoy; her son-in-law, George Henderson; her grandchildren, 22 Johnnie III, Thelma, Darren, Lloyd, Michelle, Marshall, 23 Kathy, Albion, Jr., Adrian, Michael, Rosalyn, Wilbert, Jr., 24 Chastity, and Clinton, Jr.; her great-grandchildren; her 25 brother, Ira Pierson; her sisters, Louise Ray, Juanita 26 Kochinsky, Luella Nickleberry, Lela Hayward, Ceola Head, and 27 Pearl Thomas; her brother-in-law, Joseph Hayward; and her 28 sister-in-law, Doris Billings; therefore, be it 29 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIRST GENERAL 30 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we note with sorrow 31 and regret the death of Mrs. Selma Pierson Buckner and extend -2- LRB9107056CBcb 1 our sincere condolences to her family and friends; and be it 2 further 3 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 4 presented to the family of Selma Pierson Buckner.
